  • Will I need a permit for this project?

Here are some reasons that require you to get a wastewater permit:

    • Change of original use in the dwelling
    • Creation of a new lot (subdivision)
    • Design flow changes from what was originally permitted
    • Failed potable water supply
    • Failed septic system
  • Do I have a failed system?

These are some aspects of a failed wastewater system:

    • Potable water source being contaminated
    • Presenting a threat to human health
    • Untreated wastewater is exposed to the open air
    • Wastewater backing up into your building or structure
    • Wastewater discharged directly into surface waters
    • Wastewater is pooling up on the ground
  • Is my system working right?

If you do not see any of the conditions that are listed to the left, there is a good chance that your system is working the way it is supposed to.

There may still be situations that could hamper the proper operation of your wastewater disposal system.

For example, groundwater could infiltrate your tanks and cause additional stresses to the system, shortening its life span. Any indications of this should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent premature failure of your disposal system.
